ABOUT ME

Sometimes my thoughts are a little too long for twitter, so I decided to make a tumblr to link to it.

Life Lessons from a 2 and 3 Year Old
Recently, I have been staying with my brother, his wife, and their two boys to help my sister-in-law with my nephews. I’ve been there for about a month now and I can say that my nephews have taught me a great deal in that time. If you want to learn the keys to manipulation control, just watch a little kid for a few hours. They know exactly how to get what they want, how they want it, and when they want it. Here are some things my nephews taught me over the course of this month:
Never give up. Someone will eventually pay attention to you.
Excitement can be contagious.
Buttering people up will work, but you have to be sly about it.
Jumping off objects may cause injury.
Jumping onto objects may cause injury.
Getting exactly what you want is a matter of shear will power sometimes.
If you can make the person mad at you laugh, you have won the battle.
Sometimes it is possible to make people do stupid stuff (I have video).
Fake crying WILL NOT get you out of all tough situations, but WILL delay punishment.
It is possible to have a diet consisting of only waffles, milk, and juice.

Tales of Potty Training and Bike Tours….. I have decided that moving here for the short period of time I will be here is definitely gonna be worth my time in pictures. I stole my sister-in-law’s bike for the day yesterday and took some, then went out to take more at sunset with everyone.  Possibly my favorite time of day here. I have to say living on an island has its advantages! ;)

This semester I have been working on a project. A project that has consumed my life….I enjoyed the first couple of weeks, but now I’m sooooo tired of revising and redoing everything to do with this. I have presented the project so many times that I can quote it by heart and I have no feeling when presenting the idea. In 1 week this will all be over. I will have completed the most crucial part of my engineering education and will officially have a serious case of senioritis. So here it is! The almost finished project!

We got bored at the stream today….so we made a bow and arrow out of random stuff and shot at the raft we were working on. Excellent way of wasting time.

My Viewpoint - Toomer’s Corner

Basically what this little note will be, is just a viewpoint that I had over the whole Toomer’s incident and a way to not work on my report at the moment.  I think it is deplorable what this person did, but I do not agree with retaliation.  Yesterday, I feel that I seemed cold-hearted to the  whole ordeal, but I am an Auburn girl and sometimes I think a little differently.  The first thought that came to mind was “What did this man use?” After looking up articles on Toomer’s a sound bite I found said the man used Spike 80DF, a herbicide. I decided to look into some other reports on this and saw that the man supposedly applied 75 times the amount that was needed to kill one of our trees.  What that tells me is that, this herbicide could reach other aspects of life here at Auburn. My mom was saying how people are more willing to prosecute someone for killing an animal or plant than they are to if someone kills another person, but let’s think about the effects that this will have on the community.  It won’t hurt our morale because we are Auburn, we are “All In”, and we are family. They hurt a tradition, but they may have caused more problems than that.  My fear is that the herbicide could contaminate the ground water in some way or another portion of life here in our city. If you want the MSDS for this product I have it, but I’m not sure what this tells us still. Only time will tell…

So tonight, as I was sitting on campus at 11:00 at night working out problems, I realized a few things:
I drink entirely too much caffeine (2 cups of coffee + a soft drink)
I chew gum like the guys in my class dip (counted 4 pieces in 1 day)
I spend way too much time on one class (senior design)
I don’t understand water chemistry worth a flip (and I have a test Thursday)
and last but not least:
today, we found out our project cannot physically happen….
How are we supposed to work this stupid problem out?????
Oh well, I chose this field so I must want to do this stuff…..and I do. Time to stop complaining and go to bed.
Goodnight!
